Suture less Micro Incision Cataract Surgery
Sutureless Micro-Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS) is a modern technique for cataract removal that involves making very small incisions (typically less than 2.2 mm in size) in the eye to access and remove the cloudy lens affected by cataracts. The surgery is called “sutureless” because these small incisions are self-sealing and usually do not require stitches to close them. MICS is considered a minimally invasive procedure and offers several benefits, including faster recovery, reduced risk of complications, and improved visual outcomes.

Foldable, Injectable Infra Ocular Lens Implantation
Foldable, Injectable Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation:
During cataract surgery, the cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens called an intraocular lens (IOL). Foldable IOLs are soft and flexible lenses that can be folded or rolled to fit through the small incision used in MICS. They are then injected into the eye using specialized instruments. The injectable nature of these lenses allows for a smaller incision, which contributes to quicker healing and reduced discomfort for the patient.

Toric lens, Multifocal, Multifocal Toric Lens Implantation
Toric Lens Implantation: Toric IOLs are a specific type of intraocular lens used in cataract surgery to correct astigmatism. Astigmatism is a common refractive error where the cornea has an irregular shape, causing blurred vision. Toric IOLs have different powers in different meridians, meaning they have different focusing powers in different directions. This helps to compensate for the irregular shape of the cornea, thereby reducing or eliminating astigmatism and providing clearer vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses after surgery.

Multifocal Lens Implantation: Multifocal IOLs are designed to provide vision at multiple distances (near, intermediate, and far) simultaneously. They have different zones on the lens surface, each with a different focusing power, allowing the patient to see objects clearly at various distances. With multifocal IOLs, many people can reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses for tasks like reading, using a computer, and seeing objects at a distance.

Multifocal Toric Lens Implantation: Combining the benefits of both multifocal and toric IOLs, multifocal toric IOLs are designed to correct both astigmatism and presbyopia (difficulty focusing on nearby objects due to age-related changes in the eye’s lens). These lenses provide a more comprehensive solution for patients with both astigmatism and age-related near vision problems.
